Yes, the title is true….Gin Rummy can kill….Well it does if you are playing gin rummy with your mates in Malaysia.
Ermm - Let me make this a little clearer - last night in Kuala Sapetang in Malaysia police raided an illegal gin rummy game taking place on a jetty with 10 people in attendance. Unfortunately when the police decended on the gin rummy game the player got scared as it is against the law in that province and scarpered, however one of the players thought he’d jump in the river and never reappeared.
Deputy Taiping OCPD Supt Syed A. Wahab Syed A. Majid commented:
“I was so surprised to hear that some of them jumped into the river, even though it was raining heavily and the water was fast flowing at the time.
“After all, gambling is not a major offence,” he said, adding that police managed to arrest four men, all in their 20s.
Crazy!! 1) I can’t imagine being hunted down by the police for having a game of gin rummy and 2) actually drowning because of a game of gin rummy
Let that be a lesson to you all - Don’t play gin rummy in Malaysia
